Climate Economist
FAIRR Initiative
Simi, an economist by training, has 10 years of experience in climate change with a focus on the agriculture and energy sectors. Her passion is bridging the gap between scientific research and real-world action, creating evidence-based tools for decision-makers. Throughout her career, she has led pioneering work in designing and using models and tools to advance understanding of the impact of climate change. She has worked with key players such as the Government of India, the UN, and the IMF to develop strategic vision and innovative solutions to plan for complex real-world challenges, including climate change. Currently, at FAIRR, a large investor network, Simi is leading the development of a cutting-edge climate risk tool that links the world's largest protein producers' profitability to climate risks and impacts. In addition to this, she is also a member of the Technical Council of SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), the global body that mobilizes the private sector to lead urgent climate action. She holds a Ph.D. in International Economics from Yokohama National University.
