Luiz Maia is a senior economist and sustainable finance advisor with nearly two decades of experience in finance, risk management and strategy at Petrobras. He currently leads financial strategy initiatives in voluntary and compliance carbon markets, advising on short- and long-term approach to carbon credits in Brazil and globally.
In this role, he has executed major market transactions, including one of Brazil’s largest voluntary carbon credit purchases, and built strategic partnerships across governments, financial institutions, project developers, and technology providers to advance nature-based solutions and decarbonization value chains.
Luiz holds a Sloan MSc in Leadership and Strategy from London Business School and combines deep technical knowledge with senior leadership experience in complex, high-impact strategic initiatives.
