Andrea Colán

Investment Manager – Nature-based Solutions

Andrea has over 15 years of professional experience in climate and carbon finance. In her role as Investment Manager at DEG, she is responsible for the origination and portfolio management of private equity investments in forestry plantations and nature-based carbon credit funds, contributing to DEG’ Impact and Climate Strategy and its ambition to achieve net-zero by 2040.

Prior to joining DEG in 2021, Andrea worked for the German development cooperation agency GIZ, including seven years based in Peru. In this role, she advised ministries of finance across multiple emerging economies on integrating climate change adaptation into public infrastructure investment systems and supported public financial institutions in the development of green financial products and access to international climate finance.

Andrea holds a degree in International Business from the University of Passau and an M.A. in Development Finance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

As part of KfW Group, DEG provides long-term financing to private sector companies in developing and emerging markets, with the objective of generating measurable development impact alongside sustainable, risk-adjusted financial returns.
