Jonathan Avis is Head of Low Carbon Projects Portfolio at bp, based in the Supply, Trading and Shipping business, one of the world’s leading energy trading houses. Jonathan leads bp’s low carbon centre of excellence, overseeing the management of bp’s carbon credit portfolio across compliance and voluntary carbon credit markets. Jonathan’s team undertakes the screening and due diligence of bp’s carbon credit project investments and offtakes, and is responsible for implementing bp’s principles on high integrity voluntary carbon offsets. Jonathan has 20 years of experience in the carbon markets, including at the project developer EcoSecurities, and at ERM where he was in charge of their carbon credit validation and verification team, which validated or verified more than 800 projects under the CDM, Verra and Gold Standard. He has particular experience in natural climate solutions, household devices, and energy sector projects
