Ellen Lourie

International Sustainable Forestry Coalition

Ellen Lourie is the Director of Policy for the International Sustainable Forestry Coalition (ISFC). ISFC represents organisations which steward more than 22 million hectares (54 million acres) in 37 countries on all six forest growing continents, and exists to help society build a nature positive bioeconomy by making the best possible use of forests and forest products. At ISFC, Ellen leads on policy initiatives, including on carbon markets and GHG accounting, and supporting the development of the recently launched natural capital initiative - to standardise metrics across global forestry companies. Ellen has worked in climate and carbon market policy with the private sector for nearly decade. Prior to joining ISFC at the start of 2025, Ellen worked at IETA in a variety of policy roles, culminating in leading IETA's work on nature and aviation carbon policy as the Director of Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) and Aviation. Ellen holds an MSc in Climate Change, Development and Policy from Dalhousie University and a BA in Environmental Sustainability and International Development.
