sustainable development and supply chains.
Independent consultant
Christine Woda is a forester (PhD, Göttingen 2003) focusing on biodiversity conservation and improved livelihood for local communities. A key experience in her professional life was leading a project to strengthen sustainability along the supply chain of styrax gum, a non-timber product produced in Honduras by indigenous people for the international fragrance sector. Implementing the project with the German Cooperation and international companies showed her the potential of public–private partnerships in improving biodiversity conservation through a market-oriented approach. She has successfully repeated this approach in partnership with companies sourcing in Latin America and South East Asia. Currently, she is working on easy-to-understand, comparable, and practical performance indicators to measure the outcomes of companies that invest in the conservation of forests and biodiversity in their supply chains.
