Stephen is a Managing Director of Terra Natural Capital, launched in 2023, providing flexible financing to facilitate the development, de-risking, and scaling of high-integrity carbon projects and offering long-term access to carbon credits to both corporate and governments.
Over the last 16 years, Stephen oversaw all decarbonization-related investments at leading private equity firm, Pala Investments, where he was Managing Partner for 10 years, and remains an advisor today.
Through his career Stephen has repeatedly mobilized project finance tools to catalyse industries that facilitate decarbonization of the global economy, including building one of the world’s largest independent cobalt suppliers, structuring the first dedicated project debt financings into the lithium sector, building commodity trading businesses and carbon market investment strategies.
Previously, Stephen was a senior environmental consultant at a global engineering firm, advising on regulatory and permitting matters for industrial clients, and asset investment for strategics and financial investors in some of the largest industrial and energy assets in the world.
