Paul Harrison is an international executive and conservation sector leader with 25 years of experience across biodiversity conservation, social development, and conservation finance. In Tanzania he helped pioneer the Mpingo Conservation and Development Initiative (MCDI), originators of FSC community forestry in East Africa, and led Sound and Fair, the FSC-certified ethical timber business that brought the world's first community-certified African blackwood to market, winning the FSC Outstanding Achievement Award and grounded in a demanding set of forestry KPIs from sustainable yield to village-level revenue. At UNDP he co-created the GEF Global Wildlife Programme, securing over US$450 million across 80 million hectares. Transitioning to the world of nature finance and enterprise via an executive MBA, he is now CEO and co-founder of Nature Investment, which partners with governments, landowners, and institutional investors to structure blended finance solutions for landscape-scale conservation, with a current focus on protected areas and the facilities needed to finance them at scale.
