Taking Root
Kahlil is the co-founder and CEO of Taking Root. He leads the organization to accelerate the restoration ofthe world’s forests by enabling people to improve their livelihoods from growing trees. He has spent over 15 years using carbon finance to design and develop forest carbon projects in partnership with small holder farmers. He also served as a technical advisor for leading forest carbon standards including Plan Vivo and the Gold Standard. A featured CBC changemaker and a recipient of Canada’s Meritorious Service Cross, Kahlil holds advanced degrees in economics, forestry and a PhD in forest economics from the University of British Columbia.
