NatureMetrics

NatureMetrics is an eDNA based biodiversity monitoring company. From water, soil and sediment samples - we extract DNA traces left by animals to identify species at scale from bacteria and fungi to vertebrates and invertebrates. We also look at soil health. Susan focuses on building networks and relationships with the financial services sector and developing products to address their biodiversity information requirements. Previously she has over 30 years of experience in roles covering research, consultancy, policy, risk management, project management and knowledge exchange. She has a particular specialism in risk, having spent 7 years in risk management in investment banking (UBK/Morgan Stanley), and 8 years in knowledge exchange at Edinburgh University, adapting academic research on natural disturbance risks to forests (wind, fire, pest and disease and drought), to applications for forest stakeholders e.g. forest owners/managers, carbon standards, insurers and investors.
