Dianah works with the Plan Vivo Foundation as the Regional Biodiversity Projects Officer for East Africa, supporting the development, certification & implementation of the Biocredits projects under the Plan Vivo Biodiversity Standard. She has close to 20 years of experience in the Conservation of Biodiversity with special interest in Avian conservation as well as community conservation and livelihoods development.
Dianah holds a PhD in Environment and Natural Resource Management from Makerere University, Uganda with a focus on The Conservation of Biodiversity in Farmlands of Uganda, using Birds as indicators. She has previously worked with NatureUganda, the Birdlife partner in Uganda, as the Director Conservation Science & Policy in charge of the Biodiversity Conservation and the Community conservation programmes.
With ECOTRUST (The Environmental Conservation Trust of Uganda), she heads the Biodiversity Programme which is one arm of their Tripple win model composed of Biodiversity conservation, Community Livelihood development and Climate mitigation and adaptation. Dianah’s current interest is in promoting financing for biodiversity conservation and the trickle down of this conservation finance to the grassroot indigenous communities at the centre of landscape restoration and conservation.
