Paul joined Rabobank 2 years ago after having worked in management consulting for over 10 years. He joined Rabobank in the Strategy and Innovation department where he was involved in the set up of the Carbon Bank, a program through which Rabobank is developing several propositions aimed at carbon removal and carbon reduction. One of the initiatives is the Acorn proposition – in which Paul is head of Platform. With project Acorn – which in run by Wholesale & Rural Innovation of which Paul is now part - Rabobank is introducing a scalable agroforestry and carbon sequestration monitoring system for smallholder farmers in developing countries. Using remote sensing technology and AI, the costs of biomass measuring and ground truthing are reduced, making sequestration monitoring and monetization cost-effective and scalable. Smallholder farmers will not only reap the benefits of agroforestry, but also the profits of the carbon market.
