Dr Ali Swanson is a conservation ecologist with 20 years international experience at the intersection of community and population ecology, technology, and international environmental policy. As the Director of Nature Tech and Innovation at Conservation International, she leads the institutional effort to better harness technology (from AI to drones to acoustic sensors) to accelerate and scale CI's conservation impact. Much of her current focus is on advancing the nature MRV innovations needed to unlock nature finance at scale. Prior to joining CI, Ali led large-scale ecological research in Serengeti National Park; led the development of citizen science for ecological data processing (including spearheading the SnapshotSerengeti.org citizen science platform); and served in the U.S. Department of State, leading strategic engagement on a variety of wildlife trafficking, zoonotic disease, and other conservation issues
