Trees for the Future
Agroforestry and permaculture expert John Leary has more than 20 years of experience revitalizing degraded landscapes through sustainable farming practices. As Executive Director of sustainable agroforestry nonprofit Trees for the Future, John leads a global team of agroforestry trainers who are teaching smallholder farmers to use permaculture and trees in systems called Forest Gardens. Each Forest Garden is made up of thousands of trees and effectively repairs the land and improves livelihoods. At the same time, the Forest Garden is capable of capturing and storing carbon, putting John and the Trees for the Future team at the forefront of community carbon and carbon investment initiatives. John and his team are building circular economies in some of the most impoverished and degraded regions on the planet.
