Gautier Queru is a pioneer in the field of green finance. He heads the Land Degradation Neutrality Fund, dedicated to climate and biodiversity protection, at Mirova, a leading sustainable investment company based in Paris and London.
Gautier started his career at the Ministry of Finance and in the Caisse des Dépôts group, where he developed carbon markets and funds. Between 2005 and 2013, he worked at Natixis for the European Carbon Fund (€140m), the first private fund dedicated to projects to reduce CO2 emissions worldwide. At just 30, he was appointed director of the fund, responsible for a portfolio of more than 15 major projects in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
After joining Mirova's renewable energy department, in 2016 he created the firm’s natural capital investment activities with the Land Degradation Neutrality Fund, launched in partnership with the United Nations, and praised at the One Planet Summit in 2017. Blending financing from public and private investors, the LDN Fund has raised $150m to finance ecosystem restoration and agroforestry in developing countries.
Since 2017, he has led the natural capital and biodiversity group of ‘Finance for Tomorrow’, the sustainable finance initiative in Paris.
An engineer by training, specialising in environment and energy at the Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, he also graduated from Sciences Po Paris (class of 2004).
