Sid is a seasoned sustainability practitioner, an experienced innovator in sustainability metrics, and a sustainability evangelist. Sid has 13+ years of experience in global leadership roles across corporations with multi-tier supply chains and Financial Services sector with the overarching aim of driving capital towards just and inclusive green transition and food system transformation. Sid is currently working as a General Manager in the Sustainability Finance team at Olam Agri. His work encompasses identification, assessment, monitoring and disclosure of both climate and ESG risk and opportunities along with measurement and reporting of Olam’s ESG performance. His endeavours to operationalise sustainability is evident through increase in quality of ESG and carbon data (and also ESG ratings) upon transforming the ESG reporting program, integration of ESG risks into core processes such as due diligence of new capex and enabling business units to meet the sustainability criteria of customer RFPs, tracking progress on decarbonisation initiatives along with assisting the business in attracting funding for scaling sustainability programs and nature-based solutions. Prior to his current role, Sid has more than a decade of strategic consulting, product development, ESG and impact solution and data, channel partnership and business development experience in the field of ESG impact measurement, natural resource economics and sustainable finance. The aim of his work has been to provide data-driven insights and solutions to corporates, financial institutions, and other clients to steer investments to more sustainable business models and technologies. This has served to optimize operations, supply chains and products in line with forward-looking regional and global policies relating to climate change and ESG considerations. Sid was the Head of APAC for GIST Impact, where he was responsible for the Global rollout of the GIST Impact SDG impact valuation product in collaboration with MSCI (World’s largest non-financial data provider) for constituents in the MSCI ACWI index. Sid was also part of the GIST Impact leadership team which raised strategic investment from FNZ along with leading the GIST Impact team as the Top 5 finalists in the Green Finance Category of the MAS Global Fintech Hackcelerator Program in 2020 and 2022. Sid was also Global Lead of the Product Footprint team for S&P Global Trucost and was also the Head of Trucost’s India ESG research and client delivery team of 8 FTEs. Trucost was acquired by S&P Global in 2016. Sid has co-authored several thought leadership reports(please see below for further details) in collaboration with organisations such as UNEP (Valuing Plastic), The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity for Agriculture and Food (TEEBAgriFood) Palm Oil, ICBC, American Chemistry Council, Energy Foundation China etc. ‘Plastic and Sustainability’ report for American Chemistry Council received the Long Finance’s Farsight Award in 2018 for the best individual piece of analysis that integrates traditional financial analysis with longer-term environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. Sid holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from VIT University.
