Richard started his career in 1984 in the petrochemical industry. In 1986 he joined an investment bank in NY before co-founding in 1991 a commercial real estate consulting firm in Brussels which became by the year 2000 the leader in its field. In 2006 he became special advisor to the Vice President Siim Kallas of the European Commission for real estate and infrastructure finance. In 2009, he decided to start with his previous real estate partner, Forest and Biomass. The objective was to show that a key to our future is the sustainable management of farmland and forests. Currently, Forest and Biomass owns and manages 5.000 ha of farmland and 5.000 ha of forests in west Romania.
