Karin Zaunberger is a biologist. After working in the European Parliament, she joined the Research Department of the European Commission and followed research projects in the field of biodiversity and climate change. Since 2007 she has been working in the Directorate General for Environment with a main focus on the biodiversity-climate change nexus. She has participated in negotiations on biodiversity and climate change in the frame of the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) since 2010 and she accompanied several reports in relation to nature-based solutions and ecosystem-based approaches and participated in relevant workshops, including inter alia the CBD technical workshop on ecosystem-based approaches to climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and the G20 workshop on nature-based solutions held in November 2021. She was a member of the EU’s negotiation team for the Resolution on Nature-based Solutions adopted by the UN Environmental Assembly (UNEP/EA.5/Res.5).
