Jonas Franke (PhD) is a geographer and an enthusiastic environmental monitoring expert. His expertise lies in Earth Observation and the development of innovative monitoring approaches in a wide range of applications such as fire management, sustainable agriculture and forestry, public health or renewable energy production. His focus is thereby to implement these methods into operational practices, in order to establish Earth Observation-based techniques that have an impact on working procedures but also on environmental policies. His activities are balanced between scientific research, client-oriented solutions and capacity development, mainly in South America, Africa, SE Asia and Europe.
